Savage Community February 28, 2007

Being a recent convert from the d20 system I notice a drastic difference in the size and activity betweens its community and Savage World’s. Of course I realize that the D&D name and game contribute to the vast majority of those in the d20 community.

Like many gamers I’m also a big fan of genre television that appeals to roleplayers. You know, things like Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, etc.. As an exercise to make myself more familiar with the Savage Worlds rules I’m going to stat up the main characters from one of the new shows I like to watch, Jericho. I may take liberties with some of the characters in order to flesh them out a bit.

Target Numbers revisited February 26, 2007

To succeed at any attribute or skill attempt in Savage Worlds you must beat a target number of 4. Per the rules, various modifiers to this roll ranging from +2 for something easy to -4 for a very difficult task can be assigned to the roll. Coming from the d20 mindset it’s much easier for me to think of this in terms of changing the target number instead of applying a modifier.

Welcome to Get Savaged!, my little slice of the internet that I’m using to ramble on about and support the Savage Worlds roleplaying game. I am a long time d20 gamer that is rapidly approaching 40; like many of my generation, I started roleplaying with the old D&D boxed set and migrated onwards to d20. As work, family, kids and other obligations creep in upon me, I find I have less and less time to devote to the hobby that’s been with me much of my life.
